Adobe Acrobat XI Professional (free to JHU-EP faculty)

The Adobe Acrobat XI Professional software packages are available to JHEP Instructors in order to facilitate course development and instruction. This license is provided by JHEP and you must agree to JHEP's terms of service before downloading the software and, you must remove the software if your relationship with JHEP ends.

MATLAB (free to JHEP faculty)

The JHU MATLAB TAH (Total Academic Headcount) license is now in effect. This TAH license covers all Hopkins owned machines on campus for faculty, staff, and students and is provided at no cost to you.

For off campus installations on personal machines, TAH covers all faculty and academic staff. To request a standalone license for a personal machine, send your first/last name and your Hopkins e-mail address to (You must use a e-mail and not a e-mail.) More information can be found here (

WSE Software Downloads

The Whiting School of Engineering website offers software downloads including: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows 7, CES EduPack, and Mathematica among others.


SPARS makes many software titles available to JHU affiliates at Volume/Education pricing. Software title availability is determined by your university affiliation. To see what software is available, log into SPARS ( and click Search. Please be advised that anything you see in the main catalogue is for DEPARTMENTAL use only.

(Departmental Purchases: Faculty and staff of the Johns Hopkins Institutions only. Software must be purchased and installed on machines that are Hopkins owned. Software must be purchased by the department, not with personal funds. Orders are placed via Spars.)

Titles available for work at home can be viewed/purchased under the 'Work at home' link. (Work‐At‐Home (WAH) Purchases: Faculty and staff of the Johns Hopkins Institutions only. Limited to WAH products as listed on Spars only. Software can be purchased and installed on machines that are owned by the individual, and must be used for work‐related purposes only. Software must be uninstalled by the individual after they leave Hopkins. Each media is encrypted for TWO INSTALLATIONS only and has a special keycode that cannot be replaced if lost or oversubscribed.)

None of the software listed in SPARS is for personal use. Please contact Software Distribution at 410-516-7780 for personal use software. (Student/Personal Purchases: Faculty, staff, and students of the Johns Hopkins Institutions only. Software can be purchased and installed on machines that are owned by the individual. Software can be purchased in person by the individual or via Spars, and paid for with cash or check. No software will be shipped unless we’ve received the check including the shipping fee. Software may be kept by the individual even after they leave Hopkins.)


Johns Hopkins Technology Store

The Johns Hopkins Technology Store offers Hopkins students, faculty, and staff convenient access to specially configured and priced academic computing hardware and expert service and support. A valid Hopkins ID is required for “personal purchase” sales. Currently supported vendors include Apple, Dell, and HP.
