To update your directory information, log in to myJohnsHopkins and click on the myJhed tab located in the top left corner of the screen.
From the myJhed screen you will see links to change your online visibility, change MyInfo, Change Password, etc. To edit your personal and professional information,
click the "Change MyInfo" link near the center of the screen. In MyInfo you can change nicknames, office address, phone numbers, etc.
You may also notice information marked with a red asterisk that you cannot edit; this information is provided by the University payroll system or student information system and can only be edited by a departmental administrator. If you need to request to change any of this data, and you are a student, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 410.516.8083; if you are a faculty member please call 410.579.2966.
You may also configure your online visibility from the myJhed tab screen. JHED represents your data in 2 different views: Hopkins View (intranet) and a World View (Internet). The Hopkins View represents how your data will look to users searching your record from within Johns Hopkins networks. The World View represents how your view will be presented to the Internet in general. It is important to note that all searches conducted while logged into JHED will yield the Hopkins View, regardless of your network location, however some people do not want their information published to the World and by configuring your Online Visibility you are able to control the display of your information.
Click on Set Online Visibility on the left side of the myJhed screen. For each view, you have the option of checking-on or checking-off a data field. Checking a field on for specific view will allow that field to become visible. When your record is returned as the result of a search within JHED, only visible fields WITH data will be displayed. Empty fields are not displayed.
Once you have completed selecting fields for display, please be sure to click the "Save visibility" button. This will save your changes.
If you want to completely suppress yourself from a specific view and are eligible to do so, uncheck the display of your Full Name. Doing so will completely suppress your entry from searches for the affected view. If you are a student or an APL employee, you can completely suppress your directory entry on both the Johns Hopkins and World views. This choice has security and privacy advantages, but be aware that they come at a price. Hopkins affiliates with legitimate reasons to contact you will not be able to look up your information in the official Hopkins directory. It is your responsibility to make sure that each individual who may need to contact you has correct contact information.
