This course introduces students to RF/microwave circuit analysis methods and design techniques. Topics include wave propagation and generation, transmission lines, power flow, and impedance transformation and matching using the Smith Chart. Microwave networks and Scattering and Transmission parameters are introduced. Standard passive and active networks are presented including power dividers, couplers, and amplifiers. The gain, noise, and stability of microwave amplifiers are studied theoretically and practically. CAD tools are utilized to design low noise amplifiers using microstrip lines, standard substrate materials, and commercial components.
