Dr. Mike Purcell is an experimental physicist at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. His work includes optical characterization of materials, fiber sensing, and polarimetric measurements and imaging for various applications. Dr. Purcell has studied at the University of Utah (2003-2006, BS Mathematics and BS Physics) and the University of Michigan (2011-2016, MS and PhD Applied Physics). He is also a mentor to high school interns through the Aspire Internship program at JHUAPL and a professor in the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering’s Engineering for Professionals Program.
