In an article published in the U.S. Naval Institute’s Proceedings, Lieutenant Commander Zach Fisher of the U.S. Navy argues that the increased availability of AI software-development tools, along with the growing number of commercial tech companies collaborating with the defense sector, could transform the way capabilities are developed, acquired, and deployed. This shift would empower the fleet to address challenges more swiftly and enable industry to rapidly create software that meets the specific needs of sailors.
Fisher, a Navy aerospace engineering duty officer, received his MS in 2022 through Johns Hopkins University’s Engineering for Professionals programs.
