About APL
Although APL is primarily a research and development organization, it maintains strong academic relationships with several divisions within the university.
Particularly, APL has become a major site for graduate students pursuing technical degrees with Johns Hopkins Engineering for Professionals.
Courses and other facilities offered at APL are located in the Kossiakoff Center and Montpelier 7 (MP7).

APL Education Center
Monday–Thursday: 8:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m.*
Friday: 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
*During the break between terms, the APL Education Center will close at 5:00 p.m.
Computer and Lab Facilities
Computer facilities at the Kossiakoff Center include Multi-User UNIX and Linux systems that support designated courses. The Engineering and Computing Lab and the Instructional Computer Lab provide support for general-purpose computing and application development, embedded systems development, and testing with state-of-the-art measurement equipment, interface design, and computer/network security.
In addition to classrooms and computer labs, MP7 houses the Computer Robotics Lab, where students develop computer-controlled autonomous robots. The center also supports 3D printer capabilities, the Microwave and Electronics Laboratory, the Advanced Communication Laboratory, and a CAD laboratory.
Johns Hopkins Engineering for Professionals also offers remote access to advanced test equipment for online courses that include a hardware lab component. Students can log into the remote labs at any time during the week to complete their lab assignments using equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and function generators.

Directions
From Baltimore and I-95 (southbound)
Take exit 38 (Maryland Route 32-sign will read “Toward Columbia”) west to US 29 south. (Exit 38 is approximately 10 miles from the Baltimore Beltway, I-695.) Proceed about 1.5 miles on US 29 to Johns Hopkins Road. Turn right. APL is a quarter mile west. Turn right on Pond Road, just past the service station. Follow the signs to the Kossiakoff Center parking on the lower lot.
From Washington and I-95 (northbound)
Take exit 38 (Maryland Route 32-sign will read “Toward Columbia”) west to US 29 south. (Exit 38 is approximately 10 miles from the Washington Beltway, I-495.) Proceed about 1.5 miles on US 29 to Johns Hopkins Road. Turn right. APL is a quarter mile west. Turn right on Pond Road, just past the service station. Follow the signs to the Kossiakoff Center parking on the lower lot.
From US 29
Proceed on US 29 to Johns Hopkins Road. Turn right if coming from the north or left if coming from the south. APL is a quarter mile west. Turn right on Pond Road, just past the service station. Follow the signs to the Kossiakoff Center parking on the lower lot.
Parking
Parking tags are not required. The lower-level parking lot near the Kossiakoff Center is recommended when visiting the Kossiakoff Center. Ample parking is also available near the entrance to MP7.
