The first step in initiating your JHED account is to determine your JHED Login ID. You can find your Login ID or LID by performing a lookup on yourself from any campus computer. This can be achieved by going to http://myep.jhu.edu, entering your name in the Search box at the top-right of the screen, and clicking Go.
If you find your name in the JHED Search Results screen, you may click your name to view detailed information about yourself. If you are logging in from a campus computer, your JHED Login ID or LID will be displayed near the top of the detail screen.
If you cannot conveniently get to a campus computer at one of our education centers, have access but cannot find yourself in the directory you must call the HITS Help Desk at 410.516.HELP for assistance.
Special APL Employee Information: APL staff, whose records are initially suppressed from view must call the APL Faculty/Staff Help Desk at 443.778.1422 or email Tracy.Gauthier@jhuapl.edu to determine your JHED ID. Please note that the APL Faculty/Staff Help Desk cannot update your information in JHED.
Once you have located your Login ID you can login to the JHED system and initialize
your account.
From
the http://myep.jhu.edu screen, click the New Visitor Start here link in the upper left hand corner.
You may also click the First Time Logging in link under I need help. You will then be taken to the First Time Login & Forgotten Password screen. Enter your Login ID in the first Login option on the right that is titled First Time Login. The first time login to the JHED system requires that you
verify your identity and setup your account.
You will be asked for your social security number and date of birth (Note: APL employees will be asked for their employee ID# instead). That information will then be verified and you will be asked to choose a new password, Secret Question and Secret Answer. Read the password requirements carefully before you decide on a password. The Secret Question and Answer will be used to create a new password should you ever forget your login password. If you list your email address in JHED, you may request that your secret question be emailed to you. You then will use your secret answer during the login process.
There are two ways to change or reset your password. If you have successfully logged into JHED, you may click on the Change Password link located in the JHED functions area under the myJhed tab. You will be required to enter in your old password, the new password, and then re-type the new password to verify it. A password must be at least eight (8) characters long and must contain at least two numeric characters and two alphabetic characters. You can also reset your password by typing in your user ID in the First Time Login box and clicking Submit Login Request now. You will then be taken to the Secret Answer/Question dialogue which will allow you to reset your password. Please keep in mind that JHED passwords expire every 180 days. When your password expires, you will be prompted to change it upon login to JHED.
If you've forgotten your password, you may go to the Reset My Password box on the "First Time Logon" tab at http://myep.jhu.edu and enter your Login ID. JHED will ask for the Secret Answer that you provided when you originally setup your account. If you supply the correct answer, you will be asked to setup a new password. If you can not remember your Secret Answer, click on the link to have your Secret Question e-mailed to you as a reminder (Note: The question will be sent to the email address associated with your ID in JHED). If all fails, then send an e-mail to jhed@jhu.edu or call 410.516.HELP.
