T.J. Flynn earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan with a focus on Structural Acoustics, preceded by a dual B.S. in Mechanical Engineering & Physics from the University of Kentucky. T.J. currently serves as a research scientist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab developing new techniques and technologies in the field of underwater acoustics primarily in support of the US Navy. These efforts include developing software tools for underwater acoustic propagation modeling, formulation and implementation of advanced acoustic array signal processing methods, sea test planning, and data analysis/assessment of deployed acoustic platforms.
