Michael Robert, an Engineering for Professionals instructor in the Environmental Engineering and Science program, received the Rear Admiral David W. Taylor Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement from the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command in November.  

Robert, who is also a technical project manager at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, earned this award for his work “developing a fully autonomous, continuously monitoring prognostic health system for submarines.”  

The Rear Admiral David W. Taylor Award “recognizes outstanding scientific contributions developing future maritime systems through the creation of technology-based research.”  

In Spring 2026, Robert will teach Environmental Monitoring and Sampling – 575.727 and Air Quality and Climate Modeling – 575.724

He has previously taught Modeling Contaminant Migration through Multimedia Systems – 575.629, Atmospheric Chemistry – 575.743, and Air Quality Control Technologies – 575.721.
