Engineering for Professionals instructor CJ Utara joined Sunrise on The Hill to share what it was like to have Reid Wiseman as a student in EP’s systems engineering master’s program. Utara discussed his excitement for seeing a former student now making history by commanding the Artemis II mission around the moon.

“I’ve been telling our students over the past years that as systems engineers, the sky’s the limit. Now the moon’s the limit—and beyond.” —CJ Utara

Utara explains how systems engineers are cross-disciplinary experts: “Systems engineers are really responsible for integrating multiple technical disciplines together to support complex systems. For example, they’ll bring together electrical and mechanical and aerospace engineers and computer scientists and other technical experts to develop these systemssystems like ships, aircraft, satellites, and even spacecraft.”

Utara, program manager for systems engineering, teaches Management of Systems Projects – 645.667, AI for Systems Engineering – 645.671, and Systems Engineering Master’s Project – 645.800.
