Ms. Susan Wierman
Environmental Engineering and Science
Susan Wierman is an experienced planner, manager, and author with extensive experience in air pollution control. She served as the Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Air Management Association (MARAMA) from 1996 through 2017. Previously she was employed by Maryland's Air and Radiation Management Administration from 1981-1996, and served as Deputy Director of the Administration from 1988-1996. Before moving to Maryland she began working in air pollution control in 1977 as an air quality planner for the State of Minnesota. Earlier, she worked for the Snohomish County, Washington Planning Department from 1974-1976. A native of the Pacific Northwest, she received a BA (cum laude) and Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Washington in Seattle. Ms. Wierman is a long-time member of the Air and Waste Management Association and serves on their Publications Committee and on the Editorial Advisory Committee for AWMA's Environmental Manager (EM) magazine. She also is active in the American Association of University Women, serving as Co-President of AAUW Maryland 2018-2020.
