Dr. Stacy Hill
Applied and Computational Mathematics
Stacy D. Hill received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Howard University in 1975 and 1977, respectively, and the D.Sc. in Systems Science and Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, in 1983. Since 1983 he has been on the Senior Professional Staff of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where he has led a variety of projects focused on the development and application of techniques for systems modeling, estimation and analysis. He has given talks and published papers on diverse topics in statistics and engineering, including subjects such as reliability analysis, stochastic optimization, and parameter estimation. His paper "Optimization of Discrete Event Dynamic Systems via Simultaneous Perturbation Stochastic Approximation," (with M.C. Fu) received a Best Paper award and was published in a special issue of the IIE Transactions. Dr. Hill is an adviser in the Applied and Computational Mathematics program and also serves on the program's Advisory Board.
