Instructor Information:  Francis Gerald (Jerry) Smith E-mail: [email protected], [email protected] Home Phone; 202-541-0354  Dr. Jerry Smith has over thirty years of experience in the analysis, design, development, and implementation of data communication networks; His networking experience covers both the military and civilian agencies of the Federal government; He was the project manager for the development and implementation of a highly successful military packet switching network; Also, he was project manager for a federal agency for development and implementation of a headquarters-wide local area network, a nationwide token ring network, a nationwide Novell network through the first major field office, a fiber optic cable plant with over 5,000 connections, and development and implementation of a highly classified internal network  Dr. Smith is currently an independent consultant and works on various networking projects;  Dr. Smith has taught courses in data communications and computer science at the American University, George Washington University, and, for the past thirty years, at the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering.
