Mr Nesbitt is Principal Software Engineer at Hammerhead Navigation, leading development of mapping and navigation solutions for a next generation bicycling computer. Prior to this, Mr. Nesbitt was Principal Software Engineer at Mapbox, leading the development of open source routing and navigation software. Prior to this he was Software Director at Mapzen, with a similar role. Prior to this he was Chief Architect at MapQuest where his primary responsibility was the design and development of the driving directions software and shortest path algorithms. He also led development of the navigation and guidance services and traffic services. He led the Android team developing an OpenGL ES 2 on device map drawing engine and has been lead developer of legacy map drawing systems. Prior to moving to MapQuest, he was a member of the Senior Staff at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in the Air Defense Systems Department. He has 32 years experience with computer graphics. He has experience with both 2-D and 3-D computer graphics using OpenGL, OpenGL ES 2, and WebGL on platforms from phones to PCs to high-end workstations.
